The APNG Camp offers a limited number of Fellowships to individuals from Developing, Least Developed Country (LDC), or Small Island Development State (SIDS) economies in the Asia Pacific region, as listed on the United Nations Website. These fellowships provide the opportunity to attend and participate in the APNG Camp, which will be held in in-person. The APNG Fellowship program places particular emphasis on achieving gender and geographical diversity.

Objectives

The objectives of the fellowship program are:

• Continue to enhance capacity and foster community networking.
• Promote a deeper understanding of Internet technologies and relevant ICT core concepts.
• Establish valuable human networks among fellows and with key community experts and APNG Committee members.
• Showcase ways in which the community can participate in APNG activities.

Eligibility

The basic requirements for the eligibility of the fellowship program are:

• Applicant's age is under 35 years.
• Strong motivation to learn the evolving technology and its impact on society.
• Demonstrate interest and knowledge aligned with the camp theme.
• Provide clear evidence of a strong motivation to attend the APNG fellowship program.
• Demonstrate interest in APNG activities and willing to contribute to the APNG community as a resource person or trainer in the future.
• Be willing to present and share one's expertise, culture, and interests.

Benefits

The fellows can receive basic benefits with/without additional benefits based on application evaluation.

Basic Benefits

• An e-certificate after completion of the camp and filling out the feedback form.
• Accommodation and meal coverage during the camp.
• Able to grab a chance to take part of the APNG Camp organizing committee.
• Networking activities and field trips.

Additional Benefits

• Only selected fellows will receive travel support based on application evaluation.

APNG Camp Fellowship Guidelines

Passport & Visa

Fellows must have a valid passport and visa to enter the on-site host country. Selected fellows traveling to the host country shall apply for a visa (if necessary) at their own expense. We will be happy to assist in case you need any supporting documents for the application.

Camp Activities

• Participants are required to commit to all the planned activities, in addition to two pre-camp online sessions, one orientation session, one workshop, and Day-0 activities.
• It is also encouraging to share the reflection of APNG Camp involvement to respective networks or on social media.
• Fellows must fill out the post-camp feedback form to get the certification.

Selection Process

A dedicated selection committee meticulously reviews all applications and selects candidates deemed best suited for the on-site fellowship. The committee aims to provide opportunities to individuals from a diverse range of organizations and geographical locations within the Asia Pacific region. The decisions of the selection committee are final, and the chosen applicants are notified individually. The list of selected Fellows is also published on the APNG Camp website.

Returning Fellows

• Fellows can re-apply to the fellowship program two times as return fellows.
• Based on the fellows’ past activities, engagement, and contributions to APNG Camp and the Asia Pacific Internet Community, the return fellow will be selected.
• The return fellows will get the same benefits such as accommodation and meal coverage during the camp. They may receive travel support while necessary.
• He or She or They are responsible for supporting the newcomers throughout the camp and willing to actively support the camp organizing committee.
• The return fellows selection will also be decided by the APNG Fellowship Committee.
